HOUSEWORK

------------------------------------

this piece has been created as the result of two residencies in Aldeburgh, UK.
the first one took place in May 2006 at the Britten-Pears School involving visiting artists from Africa, Europe, India and South America.
The second residency has happened over the five days in the Pump House in Aldeburgh, developing ideas from given musical starting points extracted from Britten´s "Les Illuminations".

housework is inspired by the experience of working together in a big house on the sea front-bustling rooms filled with people generating video images, composing music, cooking meals, recording or manipulating sound and image. In the creation of this piece we have been playing with my videoguitar, which makes me manipulate the video&soundlayer of a recorded quicktime movie in realtime.

titel: CLEF 1
----------------------------------

"relentlessly elusive-sinuous cadences"
the starting point for this piece was the retrorade inversion of a seven note theme from "Phrase II" of Britten´s Les Illuminations. This led to the creation of a new theme which re-occurs in different guises throughout the performance to evoke a sense of "home". As a result of sonic and visual manipulation the roles of "musician" and "artist" are interwined so that image becomes sound and sound becomes image.
